First PYO Nectarines Have Finished
Due to us having a very busy PYO day yesterday, we have been completely “picked out” of Independence Nectarines!!
Our next variety is Sunglow and they are due to start in around 1-2 weeks (weather depending).
We still have plenty of PYO Apricots and loads of PYO Shiro Plums so it is definitely worth coming up.
Today is meant to be a nice mild day with possible showers in the late afternoon.
Good PYO weather as you don’t overheat while picking!!!

After a couple of days of terrible weather, today is FINALLY meant to be a nice hot day!!! Thank goodness for that!!
Today for PYO we have:

Roxburgh Red Apricots – At the perfect stage for bottling, jam, freezing, eating, etc $1.90/kg
Independence Nectarines – Nice, ripe and ready to pick! $1.90/kg
Shiro Plums – Big juicy, yellow skinned/fleshed plum great for eating or jam. $1.90/kg

Fruit Update
Today’s weather is meant to be slightly cooler than usual but there is not meant to be any rain!! Yay!

PYO Update
The recent hot weather has does wonders in ripening a large amount of fruit. Don’t worry though, nothing is too overripe so there is still plenty of time to get your bottling fruit.

PYO Roxburgh Red Have Started!
We now have PYO Roxburgh Red Apricots available for $1.90.
They are a nice size this year and the flavour is superb.
We still have PYO Sundrop available and they are starting to reach the “tree ripened” stage so are perfect for eating or stewing.
We still have some firmer ones for bottling.
Our PYO Nectarines will be starting tomorrow.
On the Stall today we have:

Fruit Update
Well it’s official, I now know how the met service predict rain….. They look outside and then change the forecast AFTER the rain starts hitting their window!!
In the past 20 hours we have had over 20mm of rain. This rain was only meant to last around 3 hrs and was described as “Isolated Showers”!!!! Not what I’d call an accurate forecast!
Anyway the weather is meant to be clearing this morning and the sun is meant to return so PYO will resume once again.
This are still heaps of lovely Sundrops just waiting to be picked!
The Stall will also have a good range of 1st and 2nd Grade Sundrops once the trees are dry enough for me to go out and pick!!!
Weather Update
So much for the weather being decent today!
It has just started raining here and now the forecast has changed and we are meant to have steady rain until mid afternoon!!
Not ideal picking conditions so if you’re wanting to come up for PYO then it may be best to reschedule or bring a rain coat!!
PYO Update
We had a very busy day yesterday so a lot of the bottoms of the trees have been cleaned out of all the ripe stuff.
Never fear though! There is still plenty up the tops of the trees and those who are willing to do a little ladder-work end up getting some lovely fruit.
The forecast today is saying some morning rain but that is meant to clear after lunch.
It is nice and warm though(it’s been 17c since 4am).
We will be starting PYO Roxburgh Red Apricots and Nectarines on Wednesday (January 15)
The Valley Gold are about 7 days away.
The Moorparks are about 10 days away.
As usual, today on the Stall we have a large range of bottling, jamming and freezing Apricots.
PYO Sundrop Are In Full Swing!
PYO Sundrop are in full swing!
Today is going to be a lovely, hot Central Otago day so now is the ideal time to come on up and get your preserving Apricots!
As well as a good supply of PYO Sundrops, Mum and Ruby have the Stall fully stocked with a great variety of 1sts and 2nds boxes(perfect if you’re not in the mood to pick!!)
The weather is meant to get very hot over the next week so the Sundrop will probably be all finished before next weekend!
Come and get ’em while you still can!
Great Picking Day!
The forecast for today is meant to be lovely and fine so if you were thinking about coming up for PYO Sundrop then today is a perfect day for it!
We do have a couple of brief showers right now but they are meant to clear shortly.
The Sundrop are still perfect for bottling, freezing, etc and the one up the top of trees are getting nice and ripe for eating!!
On another note, I have had to deploy the bird cannon once again after my mate Derrick and I discovered a large flock of Starlings in the Roxburgh Red Apricot trees last night!! Nasty little blighters!
