{"id":294,"date":"2011-10-14T12:30:55","date_gmt":"2011-10-13T22:30:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/?p=294"},"modified":"2011-10-14T12:30:55","modified_gmt":"2011-10-13T22:30:55","slug":"hobbs-orchard-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/?p=294","title":{"rendered":"Hobbs Orchard Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Gidday folks<\/p>\n<p>Time for an update on life here\u00a0on the\u00a0Orchard.<\/p>\n<p>We, the Hobbs Tribe of Hobbs Orchard, managed to survive the winter months relatively unscathed.<br \/>\nI will admit that there\u00a0were\u00a0several occasions in which we almost froze\u00a0whilst venturing outside to perform necessary tasks\u00a0and duties\u00a0but\u00a0thanks to two wood burners (which ran 24\/7) the house remained nice and toasty!<\/p>\n<p>We didn&#8217;t let the\u00a0sub antarctic weather stop us from getting out and about though.<br \/>\nAs usual\u00a0we ventured to Queenstown several times over winter (in between the snow dumps) and despite the fact that it\u00a0was colder than a penguins rear end, we still had a loads of fun!<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_304\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/queenstown1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-304\" class=\"size-full wp-image-304 \" title=\"queenstown1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/queenstown1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/queenstown1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/queenstown1-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-304\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Here&#39;s me and Ruby trying not to freeze to death on a -5 morning!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>You can check out our Winter Photo Gallery\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/winter.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Once the snow melted and the days began to warm up, the buds on the fruit trees began to\u00a0move faster than\u00a0a caffiene addicted rabbit\u00a0so before long we were in full blown\u00a0frost fighting mode.<\/p>\n<p>Ah good ol\u00a0frost\u00a0fighting.<br \/>\nYep, nothing says good times\u00a0like running around an ice covered Orchard at\u00a01am\u00a0checking\u00a0every sprinkler to make sure there are no blockages.<\/p>\n<p>Funnily enough though, this Spring has been rather non-eventful when it comes to severe weather;\u00a0a welcome change considering the last couple of Springs have been full of weather related turmoil!!<br \/>\nYou can check out our Spring Photo Gallery <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/spring.html\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>So apart from a cold winter and a reasonably normal spring (so far) things have been ticking over nicely here at the Hobbs HQ.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to be updating the blog more regularly from now on so stay tuned for future\u00a0updates!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gidday folks Time for an update on life here\u00a0on the\u00a0Orchard.
