{"id":3284,"date":"2024-02-09T05:47:24","date_gmt":"2024-02-08T17:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/?p=3284"},"modified":"2024-02-09T05:48:28","modified_gmt":"2024-02-08T17:03:28","slug":"3284","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hobbsorchard.co.nz\/blog\/hobbsorc_blog\/wordpress\/?p=3284","title":{"rendered":"Fruit Update- Friday &#8211; 9 February"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Over the next few days we will have the very last of our apricots which are picked on a daily basis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clutha Gold are a delicious apricot &#8211; the taste of a Moorpark with the skin of a Sundrop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Good quality 2nd Grade boxes are available daily until finished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PYO <a><\/a>Moorpark and Stevens Favourite apricots are still all go and will continue until they finish &#8211; all ladder work\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Purple King plums are available as from today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sweet and juicy, yellow flesh with a purple skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A great eating plum and are also used for cooking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Billington plums &#8211; red flesh &#8211; are on the stall for jam, eating, sauce. This variety was affected by the weather so they are very small this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bon Chretien Pears &#8211; also known as Bartlett and Williams Bon Chretien &#8211; will be on the Fruit Stall as from tomorrow-Saturday &#8211; Sam intends to start the pick tonight.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf50\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tc5\/2\/16\/1f350.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf50\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tc5\/2\/16\/1f350.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They must be ripened off the tree as this is when they develop their lovely flavour so are picked when slightly green\u2026.. great for eating and bottling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Red Gravenstein &#8211; Heritage &#8211; are an early season apple which ripens in Summer <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf4e\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tdb\/2\/16\/1f34e.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83c\udf4e\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tdb\/2\/16\/1f34e.png\"> &#8211; on the Fruit Stall as from early next week &#8211; very crisp and very tart so are mostly used for cooking.
