Fruit Season
Another beautiful day in Hercules Fat>
Nothing says “Nice sunny day” like 5 degrees and a continual downpour of rain.
We only have Pears, Apples and some Plums in the fruit department today.
If you want anything else you will definitely be able to find it somewhere in the Valley though.
Not Much of an Update
Not much to update on today.
We still have heaps of Pears and Apples and lots of Purple King Plums.
The weather is meant to be cloudy today with a little bit of rain in the afternoon.
Purple King Plums
Aswell as Pears and Early Apple, we also have Purple King Plums on the Stall.
Purple King Plums are a large purple skinned Plum with firm, sweet, juicy, yellow flesh (tinged wine red near the stone).
These Plums are great for eating and cooking.
We sell them in 2kg bags for $5.
Nectarines are Finished
We have finished our P.Y.O Nectarines now.
At the moment all we have are Bon Chretien Pears, 5kg bags for $5 or 10kg for $10, and Gravenstein Apples, an early Apple variety which is a great eater or cooker, 2.5kg bags for $5.
We can courier the pears.
We expect to have Purple King Plums within the next few days and they will be sold in 2kg bags for $5.
In other news, it is freezing!!!!
Seriously!!!
How Mum and I haven’t gotten frostbite from packing fruit at 5am in almost sub zero conditions, I don’t know?
Almost out of Nectarines
Today will probably be the last day for P.Y.O Nectarines as we got quite a few P.Y.Oers in yesterday afternoon once the rain had cleared.
On the Stall we have Bon Chretien Pears, 5kg bags for $5 or 10kg for $10, and Gravenstein Apples, an early Apple variety which is a great eater or cooker, 2.5kg bags for $5.
We can courier the pears.
Our “Omega” Plums should be ready in about 3-4 weeks.
Our “Royal Gala” Apples should be ready in about a months time.
Water Water Everywhere
It has been bucketing down with rain all night and it hasn’t stop yet.
It’s either a feast or a famine around here.
38 degrees yesterday and things were bone dry and now it’s 12 degrees and everything is drenched.
Better break out the water wings.
We have some P.Y.O Nectarines still available but we have finished our P.Y.O Peaches.
If you do want to pick Nectarines then I advise that you bring some wet weather gear or ring us to see what the weather is doing.
P.Y.O Still Available
Well still have plenty of P.Y.O Nectarines available.
P.Y.O Peaches are getting a bit short now but there are still a good amount.
The temperature is meant to get up to 30 degrees today but there is also meant to be high cloud with it so it should be ideal conditions for P.Y.O as you won’t have to worry about getting roasted by the sun!!
(Disclaimer: If the cloud clears and you do get roasted then I didn’t say that!!!)
Running Late!
Running late this morning.
A pipe burst in the orchard so it was all hands on deck!!
We have started our P.Y.O Sunglow Nectarines and P.Y.O Haven Peaches.
We expect both to be finished by Sunday evening so it is best to get in early.
On the Stall we have Bon Chretien Pears, 5kg bags for $5, and Gravenstein Apples, an early Apple variety which is a great eater or cooker, 2.5kg bags for $5.
P.Y.O Nectarines and Peaches Start Again Tomorrow
We will be having P.Y.O Peaches and Nectarines available from tomorrow on.
As always they will be $1.90/kg.
Because of their popularity we expect to be finished them by Sunday evening.
We will also start our Bon Chretien Pears tomorrow for $1/kg (they are sold in 10kg bags).
Waiting
Not much to report today guys.
We are currently waiting for our Peaches and Nectarines to ripen up.
We start P.Y.O on them on Saturday.
Apart from the that it is freezing!
Mom and I almost got frostbite packing fruit this morning!!!
Hopefully it warms up soon!!!!
