PYO Sundrop are in full swing!
Today is going to be a lovely, hot Central Otago day so now is the ideal time to come on up and get your preserving Apricots!
As well as a good supply of PYO Sundrops, Mum and Ruby have the Stall fully stocked with a great variety of 1sts and 2nds boxes(perfect if you’re not in the mood to pick!!)

The weather is meant to get very hot over the next week so the Sundrop will probably be all finished before next weekend!
Come and get ’em while you still can!

PYO Has Begun!

PYO Sundrop Apricots have begun!
We have PYO advertised for Saturday and Sunday so if anyone wants to beat the rush and come up today then they are most welcome.

The forecast for the next few days is meant to be nice and fine, perfect weather for PYO!

The price is $1.90/kg (same as last year).

The Sundrop are slightly smaller than usual this season but they make up for it with fantastic flavour!
Plus smaller Apricots are the best for bottling as you can fit more in the jars!

Bottling Time

It’s bottling time folks!

We have the first Sundrops of the season available in limited quantities on the Stall in 5kg bags for $15.
As the Earli Ril aren’t as pretty as the Sundrop we are now selling them in 2nds boxes (5kg for $10).

We also have a good supply of Duffs Early Jewel Plums in 2kg bags for $5.

Ruby decided to do some bottling in between customers yesterday.
Here’s a photo of the result.
She learnt from the best. All those years of being Mum’s under-study has paid off!!
Plus she loves it, which is a bonus!

The Apricot Season Has Started!

The Apricot Season has officially begun!

That’s right folks, we have Earli Ril Apricots available on the Stall in 3.5kg boxes for $10.

Earli Ril Apricots are sweet and juicy and have a real old-fashioned Apricot taste.
They are great for eating fresh or for bottling, freezing, jam, etc.

We also have Cander Peaches on the Stall in 3.5kg boxes for $10. They are a lovely eating Peach and are full of flavour.

We expect to start having Sundrop Apricots on the Stall within the next week and at this stage it looks as though PYO will start sometime between Jan 3 and Jan 8.

Will keep you updated!

Flat Out!

Red Delicious Apple in its infancy.

The early cherries being earlier than usual this season have certainly put me a bit behind with the thinning of the apples but our friend Jasna and I have finally caught up (thankfully!).

So these days I can either be found moving irrigation pipes, picking cherries or thinning apples, should anybody feel the need to locate me as it looks like I won’t be escaping the Orchard for another few months!

Doesn’t worry me though! I haven’t escaped for over a month now but I’ve got Mum running errands to for me in town.
She doesn’t mind. In fact she enjoys it!
I always reckoned she should have been a delivery driver!!!

On the Fruit front we’re well through the Dawson Cherries with Stella coming on shortly.
The Earli Ril and Sundrop Apricots are still about 2 weeks away as are the Wilson’s Early Plums.

Will keep you updated!
